Laurent Marchand

Founder & CEO

Laurent has been an engineering and technology leader across all aspects of ICT. He is considered by most of his colleagues as a visionary with a keen sense of understanding where the market is going and identifying the opportunities that will be created. He was the prime visionary behind Kaloom. His experience includes:

  • Over 25 years experience in telecom network architecture, mobile infrastructure and data center technologies
  • Key competencies include Network Functions Virtualization, Software-Defined Networking, Mobile Evolved Packet Core and Datacenter infrastructure, IP, WDCMA/LTE, iOT, VDSL and DOCSIS
  • Most recently responsible for Ericsson’s Cloud Networking architecture and strategy
  • Leveraged silicon photonics & SDN to create low cost, high performance non-blocking Ethernet switch fabric
  • Leader in fixed-mobile convergence, mobile packet core network and distributed cloud infrastructure
  • Drive the architecture and design of the first virtualized Evolved Packet Gateway for LTE and Wi-Fi accesses
  • Lead the design and implementation of the M20 GGSN
  • Prolific inventor with over 15 patents

Suresh Krishnan


Suresh is a leader in the IP community and is an expert in all areas of IP technology.  His leadership and experience will contribute heavily to the unique IP capabilities that the Kaloom solution will support while ensuring full compatibility with related data center IP infrastructure.  Suresh’s experience includes: 

  • Recognized leading expert in IETF having lead and/or contributed to over 45 IETF RFCs while working at Ericsson and previously Cisco
  • Key competencies include Routing and Switching, IPv4/IPv6, Mobile IP, GTP, Datacenter infrastructure, Linux, C/C++ and Evolved Packet Core Networks
  • Defined, established, and contributed to the successful implementation of Ericsson IPv6 product strategy
  • Lead architect and lead designer of Ericsson virtual Evolved Packet System
  • Responsible for the Ericsson first implementation of Open vSwitch with Intel DPDK
  • Lead designer for the first Ericsson IP Network Configuration Management platform

Paul-Henri is a seasoned CFO and Executive in technology companies, skilled in entrepreneurship, venture capital, banking, management, corporate development, and mergers & acquisitions.  After a few years at RBC Group head quarters, Paul-Henri moved to National Bank of Canada to start up, at age 33, a specialized division investing in technology venture capital funds and financing high-tech companies with tailored financial tools to support growth in emerging markets. Strong with the success of continuous return on capital exceeding 30% of the $300 M portfolio he contributed to build, he moved up with Desjardins’ venture capital fund to manage new investments in software companies. Paul-Henri was drawn out of the investment sector by a few successful fast growing technology companies looking for his mentoring and talent as CFO. Over the last 15 years as CFO, he structured companies for major operative growth, and worked out successful downsizing as well,  leaded a few acquisitions and exits, established operative subsidiary in South East Asia and developed business in Middle East and Europe. He is recognized for managing growth and positioning companies for success.

As an industry veteran with more than 25 years of Sales, Business Development and Marketing experience in Data Center and Cloud Networking, Converged Infrastructures and Management. Sonny is responsible for establishing Sales and GTM/RTM strategies. During his extensive 25+ years career, Sonny held executive positions at companies that span from inception to publicly traded including Xylan/Alcatel-Lucent, Accelerated Networks/Calix, Clearmesh Networks, VCE, ServiceMesh/DXC, CliQr/Cisco, HPE and Snaproute/InfoBlox. Sonny also established his own consulting company focused on helping innovative technology startups with seed funding, GTM/RTM strategy and early customer acquisition.

VP of Product Management

Philippe Michelet is leading the Product Management activities at Kaloom™ for Software Defined Fabric™, Cloud Edge Fabric™ and UPF.

Before joining Kaloom, Philippe Michelet was leading Product Management at Snaproute where he refocused the strategy on “Edge” before the company was acquired by Infoblox later 2019.

Before holding this position, Philippe Michelet was working for HPE as Senior Director of Global Product Line Management, Data Center Networking, driving the strategy and roadmap of the entire HW/SW product line (HPE FlexFabric, “brite box” solution, DC Network Virtualizations solutions (OpenStack, partnerships with VMware and Nuage) as well as the associated NMS.

Before holding this position, he was part of the Advanced Technology Group (Office of the CTO, HP Networking), and participated to the creation of the Virtual Application Networks framework (HP SDN architecture including VAN SDN Controller, SDN Manager and multiple SDN applications). A patent related to this architecture is pending.

Coming from 3Com, Philippe Michelet was a key element to the due diligence done by HP, working very closely with the management team to promote the new Data Center portfolio (125xx/58xx).

Before working at 3Com, Philippe Michelet worked at Bay Networks/Nortel, driving different networking products (L2/L3 ASIC/NPU based Ethernet Switches & Security) as a Senior Product Manager. He participated in the design of some of the largest enterprise networks (stock exchanges, industry, retail …) where resiliency and security are two fundamental pillars. He was responsible as well of the certification of the Nortel core and edge product lines for the US federal market (JTIC)). One patent (20070011725: Technique for providing secure network access) is directly linked to this activity.

Before working at Nortel in North America, Philippe worked at Wellfleet/Bay Networks in EMEA, as a Pre-Sales engineer, specialized in Switching and Routing.

Philippe has a Bachelor degree in Software Engineering and a Specialized Master from the National Institute of Telecommunications (France)

Chief Architect

Per has spent his entire career in multiple engineering roles.  His experience and knowledge of building large-scale systems and Data Center infrastructure will contribute significantly to the Kaloom solution.  Per also has most recently been very focused on cloud solutions and is considered an expert in highly scalable load balancing.  Per’s specific experience includes: 

  • Over 20 years of experience in the telecom and software industry
  • Key competencies include Scalable systems, Load Balancing, Datacenter infrastructure, Virtualization technologies, Linux, C/C++, Agile development and DevOps
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in architecture and design of distributed & scalable high performance systems
  • One of the main contributors to the Ericsson cloud program with a focus on scalability and load balancing
  • Lead designer for Ericsson’s hyper-scale datacenters and cloud architecture
  • Lead architect of Ericsson cloud load balancer
  • Lead Architect and lead designer of Ericsson eVIP, a load balancer and distributed IP stack
  • Lead Architect and designer of Ericsson Carrier-grade Linux Telecom Server Platform

Benoit Tremblay

Head of R&D

Benoit cumulates more than 25 years of experience in software research and development in various domains.

Among those years, 18 were spent at Ericsson, with a large share of them in research. His work focused on establishing experimental systems for the IP edge, access and broadband networks. 

He has held a technical leader role in research projects covering Carrier Ethernet, Distributed Control Plane, Packet Systems Architecture, Cloud, and Distributed Data Storage. 

His interests also cover agile software development, continuous delivery and DevOps.

Benoit has contributed to more than fifteen patents.

Svetozar Ignjatovic

Head of Support & Services

Sveto brings extensive experience in full product life cycle management, from requirements handling, to system design, and operation & maintenance, focusing on serviceability and supportability of core network products.

His 25 years of international experience in telecom markets as a Solution Architect makes him a go-to person for pre-sales and after-sales engagements.

Most recently, at Ericsson, he was responsible for Cloud Storage solution and a member of the Cloud Infrastructure Architecture Board with responsibilities for e2e and deployment architecture. As well, he had technical ownership of the knowledge area for SS7-based protocols.

Sveto has been involved with virtualization and cloud projects for many years; helping migrate numerous network functions to virtualized environments.

He held various leadership roles in Services and Product Development organizations, with responsibilities for customer and partner relations management.
